Local fifth graders start year with netbooks

MARION LOCAL — One local school district is helping its students gain a stronger foothold in the world of technology.
Fifth grade students at Marion Local Elementary School began the new academic year with netbooks — devices that have the appearance of and capabilities of small laptops. With netbooks, students may access the internet and utilize word processing and PowerPoint.

Local schools earn high ratings on state report cards

Four area schools secured “Excellent” ratings on their state report cards again this year.  New Bremen, Marion Local, Fort Loramie and Minster all received the top honors from the Ohio Department of Education. Minster also received the “with distinction” designation from the state.

Oktoberfest committee names 2010 grand marshal

MINSTER - The Minster Oktoberfest Committee has announced the Grand Marshal for the 2010 Oktoberfest parade.  Minster resident Mary Knapke has been selected to lead the 36th annual Oktoberfest parade.
Knapke was surprised by the news that she had been selected as this year’s Grand Marshal.
