Cardinals fall to Covington in season opener E-mail

COVINGTON – It was a difference of two halves, but the Covington Buccaneers were able to ratchet up their defense and stop the New Bremen Cardinals in the fourth quarter and the Covington offense in turn came through with a 29-yard field goal by junior Steve Blei at the horn sounded to turn defeat into a 22-21 victory Friday at Covington.

FORT LORAMIE - Minster head coach Nate Moore coached his first official Minster High School football game Friday night against local rival Fort Loramie.  The team bonded Friday afternoon with a team dinner at Wooden Shoe to help build camaraderie.  The Wildcats played strong throughout the game, jumping on top early, before losing to the Redskins 14-12.

 The Community Post is in need of sports writers for the fall sports season to cover football. Stringers are needed to cover Fort Loramie and Marion Local varsity football.  Students are encouraged to apply.  Stringers receive a press pass for free admisison to every game, $10 per game and the opportunity to cover the team during tournnament time. Andrew Meyer, a 2007 graduate of Minster High School, was voted the Male Athlete of the Decade for the 2000-2010 years. After the nominations submitted to The Community Post in the beginning of July, Meyer received the most votes from subscribers and community members of all nominated male athletes.
