Minster Jr. ACME Advances to State

The Minster Jr. ACME baseball team once again advanced to the state tournament. The Wildcats, who won the Jr. ACME state championship last season, advanced from the Miami East district to advance to the state tourney to be held at St. Henry’s Wally Post Athletic Complex.

Minster will start its state tournament against Archbold on Saturday, July 8 at 2:30 p.m.

To get to state, Minster rolled on with a 6-0 win over Dayton Carroll on Saturday, July 1 in a postseason game.’ Austin Brown starred for the Wildcats on the mound and in the batters box. Brown pitched a four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and three runs batted in. Kyle Riethman added a 2-for-3 day with a pair of RBIs. Logan Heitkamp added an RBI. Ethan Lehmkuhl scored three runs, Alex Schmitmeyer scored two runs and Brendan Bornhorst added a single.

Minster came back the next day and clobbered Carroll 28-12 in a slugfest at MIami East. Riethman doubled twice and drove in four. Justin Mox doubled, tripled and drove in four. Brendan Bornhorst and A.J. Heitkamp each added three RBIs. Lehmkuhl (who had four hits), Brown (who had three hits), Heitkamp and Nixon each added two RBIs. Alex Schmitmeyer drove in a run and had three hits. Trent Roetgerman and Lehmkuhl pitched for Minster in the victory.
