Practice makes perfect.

Young golfers took a swing at perfecting their game last week with lessons and time on the course at Arrowhead Golf Course.
“I like golf because it's fun, quiet and you get to swing at things,” said Greg Parker, 11, of New Bremen.
Parker was one of 94 participants of the annual youth golf mini-camp that gives a week's worth of lessons and a lifetime of learning in golf.
Nathan Huber, 12, of St. Marys, and James Kronenberger, 11, of New Bremen liked getting out to be with friends while enjoying the sport on Arrowhead's greens.
“You get out with friends to play golf, and it helps me to be better at other things,” explained Kronenberger.
Nolan Fox, 11, of New Bremen, just saw it as an accomplishment to get a ball in a hole.
Golf Coach Deb Ahrns said the mini-camp is geared to give kids exposure to a different kind of sport.
“It's a sport where you can't yell or run. They learn a lot in five days. Many look forward to developing the next level of their game because it's a progressive sport,” said Ahrns.
With every course being a new adventure, Ahrns used a different hole each day for lessons to demonstrate how to overcome a variety of obstacles. Players also learned about rules and etiquette, with some especially excited to wear their golf attire to play.
“If they look like and act like a golfer, they'll feel like a golfer. You just fall in love with golf,” said Ahrns.
From 70 participants last year to almost 100 this year, kids are green with envy over others learning the sport.
“It's just a fun sport, and I like to play it,” said Hannah Butler, 13, of Minster. “The more I play, the more fun and enjoyable it gets.”
Golf Coach Don Seyfried is a true testament that golf continues on through the years. Having played since 1936, he has seen a changes in the nine-iron but knows that the game has stayed the same really.
“Sociably, I've met a lot of nice people. For the kids, I'm gratified to see them hit a good shot. That is my gift to them for the rest of their lives.”
