The official ground breaking for the new Cardinal Booster Center at New Bremen High School was held on Saturday, Aug. 30.
This new health and fitness center brings much needed space to NBHS. It will be used for physical education classes and athletic training. It will house a new expanded weight lifting center, a multipurpose room for physical training, batting cages, golf, baseball and softball workouts, and a three lane sprinting track. It will also have a large, much needed storage area. Research on the Booster Center started four years ago with the formation of the Cardinal Vision Committee, a group of athletic boosters and concerned citizens. This committee began exploring the needs and challenges of the high school, athletic facilities and the community. What they found was a need for space to accommodate the growing number of student athletes, both male and female. After many hours of effort, construction of the Cardinal Booster Center will begin in early September, with completion in early 2009. It will be located behind the high school on the southern end of the parking area. Although the basic goals for the center have been reached, a continued fund drive is still under way, as there is the need for additional equipment to further enhance the center's overall purpose. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Brad Smith at 419-629-9260 or Gary Jones at 419-629-8606. The Cardinal Vision Committee would like to thank the Cardinal Athletic Booster Organization and the people of New Bremen for their continued support of New Bremen High School and Cardinal athletics. |
