Chris Windom is no stranger to Eldora Speedway or the dirt, but the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be a new endeavor.

The 2016 USAC Silver Crown Series champion will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut on Wednesday, July 19 at Eldora Speedway in the fifth annual Eldora Dirt Derby. Windom will drive the No. 36 Chevrolet Silverado for veteran team owner Mike Mittler.

The 26-year-old Windom has competed in each of USAC’s three national racing divisions, Silver Crown, Sprint Car and Midget, dating back to 2007. He is a six-time race winner in the Silver Crown Series, including two victories at Eldora, the famous dirt half-mile oval in Rossburg, Ohio. He also has 17 career USAC Sprint Car victories.

“It’s a thrill for me to make my first NASCAR start at Eldora,” said Windom. “It’s a track that is so meaningful to those of us in the dirt racing world. I’m honored that Mike (Mittler) and everyone at MB Motorsports are giving me this opportunity.”

Adorning Windom’s No. 36 truck are his longtime partners Fox Paving and Baldwin Brothers.

After a busy month of June, Eldora' oval will now take nearly a month off before one of the busiest weeks of the season. The  34th annual Kings Royal weekend kicks off with the Jokers Wild on Thursday, July 13 with a full program featuring the World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car Series racing for a $10,000 top prize. They return on Friday, July 14 for the Knight Before the Kings Royal and a $12,000 top prize. The Kings Royal weekend wraps up on Saturday, July 15 with the richest one-day event in all of sprint car racing. Qualifying will be followed by the traditional six Eldora heat races, consolation feature events and the 40-lap, $50,000 to-win Kings Royal.

Just three days later, “The World’s Greatest Dirt Track” will host the 5th annual Eldora Dirt Derby featuring the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds.

The DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds highlight the Tuesday night, July 18 action, while the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series takes center stage on Wednesday, July 19 with the only dirt event in NASCAR’s three national touring series; the 150-lap Eldora Dirt Derby.
