The Minster Lady Wildcat girls basketball team, 17-5 (7-2) wrapped up their regular season with a Midwestern Athletic Conference (MAC) win over the St. Henry Lady Redskins, 12-10 (4-5), 72-39 on senior night for Averi Wolf, Mara Schmeising and Lauren Mox.

“The total varsity record in the four years they’ve been here going into tonight is 94-12,” said an emotional Lady Wildcat head coach Mike Wiss, addressing the crowd and seniors before the game. “You guys have been a big part of that. The leadership qualities you possess, the leadership you display and the memories and relationships you have made along the way make you very special Wildcats.”

A typical Lady Wildcats game, the pressure took its toll on the Lady Redskins as the game wore on and the shooters were hot for the Lady Wildcats as they pulled away in the third quarter.

Two three pointers from Lady Wildcats junior guard Ivy Wolf and A. Wolf got them out to a 6-0 lead but the Lady Redskins then went on a 10-0 run to seize back momentum.

Unphased, the Lady Wildcats finished the quarter on a 17-3 run sparked by a Schmeising corner three that cut Lady Redskin lead to 10-9.

Then, back to back steals by Lady Wildcats junior guard Janae Hoying led to a bucket for her sophomore forward Ella Mescher to increase their lead to 15-12.

After two free throws from I. Wolf, A. Wolf nailed two three-pointers to give her nine first quarter points and the Lady Wildcats a 23-13 first quarter lead.
