From a young age, Fort Loramie senior swimmer Dani Eilerman knew that she wanted to represent Fort Loramie in the pool despite the lack of a program.
Eilerman started swimming with the Minster Marlins swim club in first grade, then joined the Auglaize Mercer Family YMCA (AMFY) swim team in sixth grade. AMFY is a higher level of competition, with teams competing in local leagues and regional and national meets.
“That’s what drove me to start the swim team (at Loramie),” said Eilerman. “I wanted to be able to compete as a Fort Loramie Redskin. At the OHSAA level, not just a club (sport) level. The YMCA league is very competitive, but there something about being an OHSAA athlete that the club level doesn’t have.”
