Minster Lady Wildcats senior cross country runner Ella Boate has committed to Miami (OH) University to continue her athletic career after high school.
Boate announced her intentions via social media on Nov. 8 after wrapping up an impressive career at Minster, as the team finished second at the state meet on Nov. 7 with Boate finishing a career best sixth overall.
Learning to love it
Believe it or not, Boate wasn’t a big fan of running at first.
“I first started running when my older sister started doing cross country because my parents saw it as a way to get me out of the house in the morning,” said Boate. “I really hated running at first, I would pretend to be sick so I wouldn’t have to go in the morning. I think when you’re 10 years old and someone wants you to go run two or three miles at 7:15 in the morning, you don’t want to do it, naturally.”
